ScubaEarth App Reviews

Rudimentary

App has tremendous potential. Needs to be re-thought to improve ease of use, and functionality.

Bugs

Hard to look up locations. Also will not let me change my measurement setting to imperial when I select it. Please fix.

Wish it worked!

Gosh I wish this app worked like it is supposed to. It would be awesome! But all it does is crash or freeze up. And going to the scubaearth website isnt any better.

Great Potential. Currently more bad than good

There is a lot of potential, but the current execution has serious issues. 1. The option to switch between the Imperial and Metric does not work. 2. I was unable to delete dives from the log. I had to go to the ScubaEarth website to delete a log entry I would like to show my students the electronic logbook and I would like to start using the training log entries. The current app is not fit to be shown or used by my students. I currently show Dive Log or Diviac as electronic logbook examples because the PADI app has too many flaws.

Has great potential...

...if it works...it keeps crashing every time I attempt to log my dives. Very disappointing cuz this app has a lot of potential!

Needs Improvement

Not a fan of this app. Crashes a lot, cannot add your own dives and not user friendly.

Good and Bad

The good: has not actually made my iPhone burst into flames, causing the boat’s fuel tanks to explode and sending us to our doom while contaminating the beautiful waters of Cozumel’s Marine Park with boat debris and our bloated corpses. The bad: pretty much everything else. As others have noted, the app will let you “select” Metric or Imperial measurements, but won’t actually change to Imperial. It doesn’t seem to care which is set in ones profile online, either. It’s slow. It’s clumsy. There’s a “FAQ” section, but it’s completely blank. I suspect there actually are some Terms of Service, but that’s blank, as well. Same goes for the privacy policy, except there’s no particular reason for me to assume there really is one or that anything from the app is private. The website has a slightly useful Gear Locker feature, but this does not sync to the app. What’s more useful out in an area with no data: information about gear on my phone, or on some website somewhere? That’s what I thought. There are standard formats for dive logs (such as DAN’s .zxu and others) but there appears to be no way to import logs into ScubaEarth or export them from or to anything else, either via the app or online. That means that a great opportunity to combine profile logging by ones dive computer with location and note logging by an iPhone app has been utterly squandered. It’s pretty clear this was released with no testing at all. There probably was some sort of thought process, but it may well have been limited to “we should have an app!”

Great idea, terrible execution

I remember when I first downloaded the PADI app and thought to myself how absolutely useless it was. I said: they should make an app one can use to log ones dives, with depth, time, temperature, gps location, the whole nine yards. Maybe even make it a social thing o e could share. Three years later, it comes out!!! But it doesnt work. AT ALL!!! Cant log the location of my dives on the map, the map doesnt work. Cant switch between metric and imperial systems, the settings dont work. Went on the website and tried, that also didnt work. I honestly cant wait til this app gets its act together.

Will not let me change to imperial measurements

Faqs never appear. Wont change to imperial measurements

PADI, are you listening

Your app and the online computer version have so many issues and complaints! Why are you not fixing this, it is part of your marketing and you are turning people off to PADI.

Please, please, please add Logged Dives value in app

There’s even a great little box for it next to the “All Dives” box. Trying to count the logged dives is like trying to count numbered entries on a spreadsheet. This info also filters into the PADI app making this feature that much more needed. Please need logged dives tally number. This feature exists on desktop site. Also, in desktop site, one is able to edit dives. Could this not be extended to the app? Thanks for listening.

The stars dont go to negative

I rarely rate apps, but in this case it would be a crime to not warn people of how bad it really is.

Good grief - just remove the app!

Good grief - just remove this app! All it does it announce it doesnt exist anymore, and to load PADI app instead. And now it have to remove this dumb app that does nothing except take up space.
